Construction Projects Finishing Up! Overview of Upgrades and Additional Open House Hours

Thursday, August 21, 2025

Hi everyone!

After two years, our construction projects at OHS Main Campus are finally coming to a close as we start the 2025-2026 school year! Below is a brief overview of the projects, what was completed this summer, and other updates as we start the new year.

Updates and Upgrades Completed

  • HVAC System Replaced: The entire HVAC system from the 1960s has been replaced. Meaning we will have efficient and consistent heating and cooling in our building! Each office and classroom now has new ceiling tiles and several vents that will disperse the air throughout the room when needed, rather than the old system that constantly ran and provided a humming noise in the classroom from one vent. This should create a more comfortable and quieter environment.
  • New Windows and Doors: Most interior and exterior doors, along with all our windows, were replaced to maximize energy efficiency and enhance safety.
  • LED Lighting Throughout Campus: Every classroom, office, and our Fieldhouse was updated with energy-efficient LED lighting, including dimmer switches.
  • Structural Updates and Repairs: There were several repairs made to the exterior of the building, including roofing replacement, cosmetic repairs to the columns along Stadium Drive, and masonry repairs to the brickwork.
  • Redesign of Raccoon Runway: Anyone visiting Main Campus after January will have noticed updates to Raccoon Runway at Main Campus. The new lighting and design elements give Main Campus a more modern look.
  • Bathroom Renovations: The rest of our bathrooms have been updated and modernized, including updates that make several bathrooms fully accessible.
  • Upgrades to the OHS Fieldhouse: Thanks to our partners at CG Schmidt, we have a much-needed NEW SOUND SYSTEM in the fieldhouse. Anyone who has attended an event knows our old system was muffled and inconsistent. We now have an upgraded system to support our many community events, hundreds of student athletic events, and provide a better fan experience for our students, families, and visitors! To support this upgrade, we have also replaced the sound panels lining the fieldhouse walls.

While many of our upgrades are “behind the scenes” and not visible, these projects will enhance the student and learning experience for years to come! We have a beautiful campus, and the investment in these projects ensures our campus will continue to support our students on their career, college, and life readiness journey!

Although most projects are now complete, we will still see a few construction workers on site at the start of the school year. They will be finishing things up and monitoring our new heating/cooling system to ensure everything is working properly.

Additional Open House Hours
In addition to our Open House on Tuesday, August 26 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. (2:00-4:00 p.m. to meet with Teachers and 4:00-6:00 p.m. for self-guided tours), the building will be open for you to walk your schedule and familiarize yourself with campus on:

  • Friday, August 29, from 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Please enter through the Fieldhouse lobby.

Thank you for your support and patience over the last few years during these building projects.

Go Raccoons!

Last Week of School Reminders and Summer Updates

Thursday, May 30, 2024

Hi Raccoons!

Just like that, we are almost done with the school year! I want to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to everyone for their support and trust this past year. Regardless of the role we play in our community, we have so much to be proud of! Over the next week, we will have the opportunity to celebrate our accomplishments, set goals to overcome any challenges and come together to honor our seniors as they graduate from OHS.

Below are several important details and reminders to help us close out the year and kick off our summer vacations. Please remember you can always reach out to me at CurtisJ@oasd.org or your counselor if you have any questions.

Have a great summer!
Jason
