Last Week of School Reminders and Summer Updates

Thursday, May 30, 2024

Hi Raccoons!

Just like that, we are almost done with the school year! I want to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to everyone for their support and trust this past year. Regardless of the role we play in our community, we have so much to be proud of! Over the next week, we will have the opportunity to celebrate our accomplishments, set goals to overcome any challenges and come together to honor our seniors as they graduate from OHS.

Below are several important details and reminders to help us close out the year and kick off our summer vacations. Please remember you can always reach out to me at CurtisJ@oasd.org or your counselor if you have any questions.

Have a great summer!
Jason

Summer Construction - Campus Disruptions
Over the next two summers, crews will continue working on the roof and HVAC replacement projects. In order to avoid any disruptions to the school year, we will maximize the summertime to complete these projects. Please note the following operational changes in order to support our crews:
  • Main Office Relocated to East Campus (Starting Tuesday, June 11)
    • The OHS main office and counseling staff will be relocated to East Campus starting on Tuesday, June 11. If you need to come in and meet with anyone or take care of any school business, please come to East Campus (915 Summit Ave). Our office hours are 7am-3pm and we will be closed on Thursday, July 4.
    • The only areas accessible at Main Campus this summer are the Field House, OAC, Tennis Courts, Greenhouses, and Weightroom. All other areas will be closed for construction, including our classrooms, student services office, and main office.
  • Parking (Back Lots Closed)
    • The parking lots in the back of campus are closed for the summer. Students coming to O-Power or individuals accessing the tennis courts should park in the South Lot.
    • Individuals coming to campus events at the OAC should continue to park in the North Lot.
    • Please follow any signage and be mindful of construction crews on campus.
  • Accessing the Tennis Courts
    • The tennis courts will remain open this summer. When coming to campus to play tennis, we recommend parking in the South Lot or at East Campus.

Mid-May Graduation and Senior Celebration Updates

Wednesday, May 15, 2024

Hello OHS Class of 2024 Students and Families!

Our celebrations honoring the Oconomowoc High School Class of 2024 will kickoff next week with Cap and Gown Distribution. AH…graduation is getting real! Please refer to the following communications that were shared in mid-April regarding all the events planned to celebrate you and your classmates. It’s going to be a fun few weeks!

  • Letter from Mr. Curtis from Friday, April 12. (Click here)
  • The Class of 2024 Commencement and Celebration Webpage (Click here)

Both of these resources contain all the information you need to know about each celebration coming up over the next few weeks. This includes details about Celebrate Your Future Week, the Senior Send-Off Ceremony and community parades, graduation rehearsal, and the 2024 Commencement Ceremony!

However, beyond all those details, I do want to highlight a couple of important reminders that will help you for planning purposes. Check them out below and let me know if you have any questions.

Watch Email and Social Media
We will send reminders and updates to students and families prior to each major event. We also encourage you to check social media and share all the events and celebrations with our community!

Most events will be accessible through our live stream feed. Click here to bookmark the link to the live stream.

Reserved Accessible Seating at the Commencement Ceremony
We offer reserved seating for guests with limited mobility and who may not be able to climb the stairs of our bleachers. Please email Christine McCartney at McCartnC@oasd.org to make arrangements. It’s imperative that you make these arrangements as soon as possible.

In general, seating in the stadium is on a first-come, first-served basis. Our gates open at 6:00 a.m. so that our team can set up. Families are welcome to begin reserving their seats at that time. However, we ask that you do not use duct tape on our new bleachers.

Finally, the OAC will broadcast the livestream in case you, or a guest, would prefer to watch the ceremony from an air-conditioned facility. There are no reservations needed.

Decorating Your Cap
Students have the opportunity to decorate their caps to celebrate their chosen post-high school pathway or to honor a family, friend, or someone who has been influential in their education journey.

Designs must be approved by Mr. Curtis before Wednesday, June 5. To get your design approved, please send Mr. Curtis (curtisj@oasd.org)  an email with an outline, image or description of what you plan to put on your cap.

Start Downloading/Transferring Your Files!
Seniors must return their Chromebooks after exams on Thursday, June 6, or at graduation rehearsal on Friday, June 7. Graduates will have their OHS email and access to all Google files shut off on Friday, June 28. Students should click here for information on how to transfer their files to a personal account.
