Summer vacation is a time to unwind, have some fun, and seek a little balance in your life. I hope the upcoming months give you a chance to reconnect with family and friends and recharge your batteries for a new year filled with new adventures, opportunities, and experiences.
While the next few months are about fun and relaxing, it is also a busy time filled with vacations, jobs, camps, and other events. In order to help with your planning process, we want to make sure you have all the details about our Back to School 2025 operations and events.
Our School Year Kickoff Team has been meeting since January to ensure that every Raccoon has a successful start to the 2025-2026 school year. This letter is not meant to stress you out or rush away the summer; rather, it’s to help you plan and get excited for the next steps (or first steps!) of your high school journey.

Summer Contact Information
Here are
a few quick details about summer support and operations at OHS:
- Counselor and
Administrative Support Team: Remember, some of our Counselor
and Associate Principal assignments have changed. Click here to view your assigned support
team and their contact information.
- Counselors do
have some summer office hours, especially in August. Don’t hesitate to
reach out if you need anything, and just note that their response time
may be 1-3 weeks, depending on their schedule.
- Front Office
Hours: The OHS Main Campus office is open Monday-Thursday from 7:00
a.m.-1:00 p.m. However, the office will be closed from Monday, June
30-Friday, July 4.
- Work Permits: Remember, work
permits are now processed online and are no longer issued through OHS. You
can click here for more information.
- Just call: Need some help
with registration or have a quick question? Call the front office
(262-560-3100), and we can do our best to answer your question or, at the
very least, direct your call to the appropriate person.

The first step in returning to the new school year for all OHS students is to make sure that you are registered, have your new ID, and take care of any individual needs, such as medication drop-off, lunch accounts, etc. See information below about 3 incredibly important dates and events to support this process.

Click

Students are asked to register for an arrival time to have their yearbook pictures taken, new school year ID printed, and to pick up any pre-ordered materials, like parking permits or yearbooks from 2024-2025. In addition, our counselors, food services (account information and free and reduced lunch programs), the athletic department (registration and forms), and health services (medication drop-off) will be available to answer any questions or provide support for your individual needs as we kick off the new school year. It’s really important that you get your student ID before the school year starts. If you cannot attend Picture Day on August 6, please email Mr. Curtis (CurtisJ@oasd.org) to arrange for an alternative time. |

Our
annual Open House will occur from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26.
Please enter through the Fieldhouse Lobby. The primary goal of Open House at OHS is to help students become familiar with our campuses, walk their schedules, explore club and activity opportunities, and just reconnect with their friends and community. Our
Open House is structured in two formats: 2:00-4:00 p.m.: Teacher Meet and Greet - Teachers will be in their rooms to meet you and share initial information about the course. 4:00-6:00 p.m.: Self-Guided Tours - OHS will remain open until 6:00 p.m. for students and families to explore campus on their own. The office staff and I will be around to answer any questions. |
First Week of School at Oconomowoc High School
Freshmen First Day of School, Transfer Student Orientation,
First Day of Classes
Only Freshmen Report to OHS
- The Class of
2029 will report to OHS for their first day of high school on Tuesday,
September 2. Buses will run their normal routes, and students are expected
to be in the Gale Douglas Fieldhouse lobby by 7:15 a.m.
- It is not
necessary to bring any school materials or supplies. We will run our
normal lunch operations if a student would like to purchase lunch, or they
can bring their own.
- Hundreds of
upperclassmen and our entire staff will welcome our newest Raccoons back
to campus and help ensure they are set up for success before they start
their official first day of classes on Wednesday, September 3.

- Our new
students who recently moved to Oconomowoc or students who are transferring
to OHS are invited to campus on Tuesday, September 2. The goal is to
welcome them to our community, ensure they are set up for success on the
first day of classes, and learn more about our school culture. Please
register using the link above.
- Participating
students should report to the lobby of the Oconomowoc Arts Center at OHS
by 10:00 a.m. The program will end at 2:30 p.m., and students can either
take the bus home, be picked up, or leave on their own.
- Please note
that lunch will be provided to everyone who registers.
In addition, new sophomore, junior, and senior students are invited to a new student family dinner on Monday, August 25, at 6:30 p.m. Click here to register.

All Raccoons should be in their Block A/Hour 1 class at 7:20 a.m.

that the schedule is slightly modified. If you have off-site work
placements or classes, please take note of the schedule changes.

Freshmen Family Dinners, Sophomore Meetings, Junior
Readiness Workshop, and Senior Family Night
The transition to high school can be overwhelming, but we have so much support in place to help you. In addition to picture and material pick-up day, open house, and the freshmen-only first day of school, we offer Freshmen Family Dinners for all incoming freshmen and their families.
This dinner is designed to help give your family some time to connect about the high school transition, and allows us to preview your first two months of high school. Over the course of the 90-minute meeting, you will get a chance to have a free dinner together as a family, hear from upperclassmen about their experience and advice, and meet your support team, including Mr. Curtis, your associate principal, and your counselor.

In order to help support you and your family, our Career, College, and Life Readiness Day on October 14, 2025, is designed to give you a chance to visit a business in a career cluster that interests you and have a college visit experience. At some point in September, you will review the structure of this day and options for your experience. Click here to start reviewing the trip and college visit opportunities we are providing, and reach out to your counselor with any questions.
Following this experience, your counselor will provide more information on scheduling a one-on-one meeting with your family to discuss academic and career programming opportunities. This meeting will take place between late October and early January. Watch your email for details!

Yep, you
are just two school years away from graduation. So…let’s take a minute to
reflect on the first half of your high school experience and consider ways you
can hold yourself accountable to ensure you are set up for success as you
consider your career and college goals.
All juniors and their families are invited to a Career and College Readiness Workshop on Wednesday, August 27, at 6:30 p.m. in the OAC. During this workshop, we will provide information on the opportunities to help hold you accountable for your goals. You will get a chance to review your transcript, learn initial information about the 2- and 4-year college application process, and discover opportunities for work-based learning experiences and apprenticeship opportunities.
Senior Family Night: Preparing for the Post-High School Transition

Just
like that, you are a senior! Throughout this year, our team will be focused on
helping you finish strong and prepare for your transition to post-high school
life. On Wednesday, September 10, all seniors and their families are invited to
OHS to begin the transition process and learn more about college applications,
scholarship information, Military options, workforce readiness opportunities,
and other information to help define your transition goals.
OH…and save the date for the Class of 2026 Commencement
Ceremony on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in Rux Stadium! Watch
for more details in early December.
