Wrapping up Term 1: Exams, Report Cards, and Fall Events!

Tuesday, October 19, 2021

Hey Raccoons!

We have just about one week left in the first term! As we close out the first grading period, I want to provide everyone with a few quick updates as we look toward November. Please check them out below, and email me at CurtisJ@oasd.org if you have any questions!

Term 1 Exams
Exams for term 1 will be given to our block classes on Wednesday, October 27 (Blocks A and C) and Thursday, October 28 (Blocks B and D). We will run a modified schedule on these days. Please click here to check it out. A few other quick notes:
  • Exams are only given to classes that meet in the block since this is the midpoint of the class and .5 credit will be awarded to students who pass the class. If you have a skinny class, you will just have a normal class period during the designated exam period.
  • Students are still expected to report to study halls on exam days.
  • On Wednesday, October 27 buses will depart at 2:47pm, even though our last class ends at 12:10pm. During the afternoon, students are welcome to study in cafeteria 150 for their Thursday exams. However, if they have a ride home, they can leave at 12:10pm.
  • Thursday, October 28 is a district-wide half day. Exams will end at 11:40am and buses will depart at 11:47am.
  • There is no school on Friday, October 29. Enjoy a well-deserved long weekend!

Term 1 Report Cards
Report cards will be published on Monday, November 8. When report cards are finalized, we will email everyone a synopsis outlining the grade-reporting structure and nuances that come with reporting grades at the high-school level. Once you receive your report card, feel free to reach out to your counselor regarding any transcript questions or to your teacher for any questions regarding final grades.

Looking Ahead to Term 2
If you thought the first nine weeks of the year flew by, the next term is even crazier! With breaks for Thanksgiving and again around the holidays, the grading period often sneaks up on everyone quickly, so let’s start strong and stay focused as we kick off term 2 on Monday, November 1.

Finally, there are so many fun things planned as we head into the winter months. Keep watching for communications regarding upcoming concerts, the annual musical, regional and sectional playoff games, and the start of the winter sports season. Late fall is a crazy and active time around campus (well… every season is!) and I am so excited that many of our winter traditions are returning this year.

Go Raccoons!
