Modified Schedule on Tuesday, April 9: Career, College, and Life Readiness Day

Hi OHS Students, Families, and Staff!

I wanted to take a minute to remind everyone about all of the exciting career and college preparation opportunities that are happening at OHS over the next month. This includes the ACT Aspire Exam for Freshmen and Sophomores and the upcoming Summer Job Fair for all students. Please see the details below.

Tuesday, April 9: ACT Aspire Exam for Freshmen and Sophomores (7:20am-2:40pm)

We will run a modified schedule on Tuesday, April 9 so we can accommodate the administration of the ACT Aspire Exam for our Freshmen and Sophomores. Below are details for each grade level:

Freshmen and Sophomores

9th and 10th graders will report to OHS at 7:20am and participate in the ACT Aspire Exam. The exam will take the entire day and details are available by clicking here.

Juniors and Seniors

Because we need most of our staff to administer the ACT Aspire exam, Juniors and Seniors are not required to attend school on Tuesday, April 9. However, we have arranged for various workshops at East Campus on resume building, interview preparation, and applying for scholarships. This would also be a day in which families could tour local universities or complete job shadows without missing a day of instruction. In addition, East Campus will be open for upperclassmen who wish to come work on any academic assignments or study for upcoming AP/IB exams. For more information, please click here.

OHS Summer Job Fair: Thursday, April 11 (4:00-6:00pm at OHS East Campus)

As a reminder, we will have over 30 local companies looking to hire OHS students for a variety of positions. Summer is a great time for students to seek employment and explore jobs that may help them discern a potential career interest. We will continue to offer Pride sessions focused on preparing students for these on-site interviews, which will include helping them build resumes and practice interviewing.

I also want to take a minute to wish everyone a relaxing and fun Spring Break. The OHS offices will be closed beginning at 3:00pm on Friday, March 22 and will reopen at 7:00am on Monday, April 1.
